Teaching Tuesday

Today we will be exploring panel skirts!

A standard part of the classic burlesque costume, the panel skirt is deceptively simple looking but a little more complex to make. However, once the trick of it is discovered, you can make as many panel skirts as your heart desires! There are many different kinds of panel skirts, from the straight fall that is an elongated rectangle to the flowing half circles that translate to stunning stage choreography.

Panel skirts are fairly basic to construct, but how you attach them to your belt or costume can be very individual. While there aren’t really a lot of explicit tutorials out there on the internet, this link can help you determine how much fabric to use for your very own panel skirt!
